In late 2009 friend and neighbor Jeff Ifland approached me about security for a small science fiction convention in Lincoln Nebraska In 2010. I hadn't been to or worked security for a convention in a decade. As far as I knew they didn't happen in Lincoln anymore. Jeff explained they hadn't for a while, but that he was starting a new anime, gaming and science fiction convention. Something low budget, small, under 200 people, laid back friendly, low key.

hemmed and hawed, eventually said yes, called a few nerdy friends with security and social skills and ended up having a great time.
I had too good a time, now I am assistant con chair for our second year, 2011.
