    Conventions

If you like to shoot portraits a costume heavy convention like an anime convention can be worth attending at least once. The quality of the costumes ranges from throw on to really elaborate and carefully detailed and made. The decade I was away from conventions, about 2000-2010 coincided with the rise of Anime conventions in Nebraska and the midwest.

Anime PortraitMy biggest lesson here was also one of the oldest ones repeated. Plan better.
The day I went to rent the lighting equipment I wanted to take with me I discovered some of it had been broken earlier that week, and none of it was for rent anymore.
I slapped some full spectrum bulbs into some hot lights normally used for art photography, grabbed a portable backdrop and crossed my fingers. I didn't do as well as I would have liked, but the people were fun, I shook some of the rust off and talking to the photographers who were there shooting for money was educational.

I split also the photos from this convention into two folders for easier downloading and compressed them into .zip files. Nebraskon Photo Batch 1 Nebraskon Photo Batch 2
